Shout! The Mod Musical [09 Jun 2008|01:38pm]
broadway2010
Has anyone seen Shout? It started in New York but now it's touring in Chicago. It's a jukebox musical about women in the 60s and it's really cute! I went the other week with some of my friends and we had a blast. If you're in the area you should check it out! Here's the site for the show:

Closer than ever Sheet Music [27 Nov 2006|03:59pm]

alexlady
Does anyone have "One of the Good Guys" from Closer Than Ever?

My fiancee is auditioning for a production of Into the Woods and ordered the music on amazon but it still hasn't shipped... and the audition is tomorrow!

If anyone can help by faxing this to me, please let me know. You would be my hero/heroine!

Hey!

Im new to this community, and I just wanted/needed some advice on getting around actors that dont like to re-act.

I am doing the musical the wiz. and I am the wiz.

My energy is always up once I step on the stage, but the others actors ignore and dont re- act to anything that I do. They just stand there looking so dull.

Its really hard for me to develope my character like this too.

And my play is about 5 days away!!

please...give me some sort of wordsto help!!

Inspirational acting workshop coming up! [07 Feb 2006|03:21pm]

alexlady
Hi, I'm new to the community, and i wanted to get the word out about an acting workshop coming up in NYC...Tom Todoroff is one of the best acting coaches in LA, and he's bringing a two-day intensive to New York on Feb 18-19! My friend works with him weekly out in Los Angeles, and she says working with him is just transformational.

I hope you'll check out the links:

www.tomtodoroff.com
www.actnowevents.com

The class is limited to 40 performers, and it's filling up fast. You can choose to attend but not perform at a reduced rate.

That's all---if you do sign up, please tell them Alex sent you! Feel free to comment with any questions.

Los Angeles Shakespeare Co. OPEN AUDITIONS [22 Jan 2006|03:10am]

damnthemanatee
Hey guys...

So the Los Angeles Shakespeare Company has been on a hiatus due to its construction of its own personal outdoor ampitheatre.

The stage is up and soon to be running, and will soon present its first production "Much Ado About Nothing."

This is an amazing opportunity, as today is an OPEN CALL (Sunday, January 22nd). For anyone and everyone. Show up between 10am and 4pm and you can audition, no appointment necessary.

http://www.shakespeare-usa.com for more info (click for Much Ado info on the left.)

1909 Topanga Canyon.

Ridiculously amazing opportunity, non-equity = okay.

Any Movie Suggestions? [04 Jan 2006|06:42am]

averypenguin
Can you think of any good movies based on (or films of) stage plays? I need something that is reasonably appropriate for my church drama group (ala no massive cursing and no nudity) as we're having a retreat this weekend and I need two different films to show them.

Thanks!

Hello everyone, I've just joined the community <3

Well, I got the horrible news today that I'm going to be rejected for the part of Juliet in a production of, of course, Romeo and Juliet. I've wanted to play Juliet ever since I was a little girl, and these people are refusing to even let me audition because I'm 17, not 18. ONE YEAR. Wow. I know its really silly to be upset about it, because there are always other chances, but I had already been told I could audition and had my hopes up. I hate it that they let me get so excited, then slammed me down.

I was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences, because its always fun to bitch about things with people who've already gone through them, don't you agree xD

does anyone in this group live in oklahoma?

if so, do you have myspace? I created a group specifically for oklahoma theatre and film, so you should join!

(and if you don't have myspace, but live in oklahoma, feel free to comment anyways)

Hey I'm new to the community! My name is Rina, I'm 17 and I pretty much LOVE everything about theatre.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a script

Just somethings to keep in mind:

Being performed by University bound highschool students of varying experience
Needs to be reasonably appropriate
one-act preferably, but full-lengths are fine
needs to have at least 8 players, mostly female.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you wanted to dave my ass big time, you could email me a summary/sample/script at rinawilkins@gmail.com

Does this not seem right to anyone else?? I auditioned for a play, and I didn't get a part at all (Part A) , but they had to move
the girl from Part A to another part (Part B), so instead of getting me to play Part A, (I was the only other person that auditioned for that part) they got a girl that didn't even audition, and doesn't want to be in the play. So is this not really really screwed up or is it just me?? Does anyone think I have the right to be mad??? Because I am. And the worst part is, that my Dad is in the play, and I have to go see him in it, and hear him talk about it.
